A Flintstones World - tripped on this site while trying to answer the question that we all have on our minds: "what did Barney Rubble do for a living?"
The Straight Dope - Ditto the above reason

I've been looking for a good book on the great Chicago fire of 1871 and recently came across a reference to it in an oblique way. While reading " The Deep End of the Ocean" by Jacquelyn Mitchard she referred to the great fire but more importantly, also the great fire that occurred in Peshtigo, Wisconsin the same night. Now I want more on both subjects. By clicking here, you'll go to Deana Hipke's excellent site on the Peshtigo fire.
And speaking of books, BookDB2 looks interesting.

Boatnerd is an interesting site dedicated to shipping on the great lakes. The Captain's Quarters also has some interesting stuff.

I think at some point we need to address three Japanese things that have invaded our shores. This probably doesn't even make sense, since on the internet we have no shores. Let me go on.

Hentai - Unless you're young, have something beyond a pierced ear, or multiple tattoos done while you weren't drunk, you probably don't know the meaning. Right off the bat, it sounds like a bondage thing with poultry which just isn't right. Those poor birds. What was the Colonel thinking? I did happen upon this while researching Hentai.

Anime - Anna may, Anna might. Who is Anna? Look, it's her decision not ours.

Manga - Man Ga. Man got what? I got nothin on Manga.

One day, I was driving Mary crazy with the theme song from "The Patty Duke Show". So, we looked for it. Hard to find, ya think? Not so! For you trivia buffs out there: Patty Duke was, not at that time of course, but later on in her career romantically involved with none other than John Astin. You ask who the heck John Astin is?? Well, since you asked. John Astin played Gomez Addams in the hit 1960's show, the one and only and yes original Addams Family television show.

I know it sounds weird but, piracy still exists to this day and if anything, it's not on the way out. I'm currently reading a book, "Dangerous Waters - Modern Piracy and Terror on the High Seas by John S. Burnett", which details part of the state of affairs concerning piracy nowadays. In the book, Burnett cites a website that is no longer current but I found it after searching and it's interesting. Click here for the International Chamber of Commerce Commercial Crime Services weekly Piracy Report.

Scout - This site provides a wide range of information on Professional as well as College sports. NASCAR but no golf. Hmmmm.

WhatIfSports - This site is very interesting. One of their objectives is to simulate games between existing sports teams and those of the past.

ENN - Environmental News Network. Well kiss my bark, CNN.

"social networking" websites

FaceBook - Facebook is a site that is divided by what level of education you are in right now. You are able to get to know different people that might be as close as attending your own school or people who attend a college or high school that you have heard about. You can talk safely about any topic and it is a really good way for old friends to find each other who they may have lost track of through the college or high school years.

MySpace - Myspace is a site in which people of all ages can go and interact with people from all around the world. As I said there is no age limit which may concern you but there are restrictions and if you follow your own common sense you will be perfectly safe. Also see pimpmyspace

Tagged - Tagged is targeted mainly towards young people. It is a way for young adults, ages 13-19, to interact with each other in a safe environment. You can chat with people that you know as well as people you don’t from all over the world.

The use of the internet changes from day to day and from one person's perspective to the next. A primary use for many people seems to be news, whether it's mainstream or alternative, so this is our take on news on the web.

For the moment,

Ok, elephant soccer is cool. One of the hottest things lately are Videos - links to sites that host usually short homemade videos that run the gamut of entertainment. Like this: Storm chasers huh?

What about Central Park in New York? Have you been Wired lately?

While looking for the lyric's to a song the other day we came across several sites that cater to this type of thing, so here goes the old review :

Leo's Lyrics - Nice site. We found the lyric's (buttons by the Pussycat Dolls). Had to use the search feature because that song wasn't listed under song listing. Really, this site is organized fairly well and is not annoying as far as advertising is concerned. This site has the least adverts.

Absolute Lyrics - Okayyy. Everything you click on here will give you a Brand New Popup window of your own choosing. We were using Firefox as a browser and still got them. Advertising is not a problem ( it's how a lot of people get paid) but too much is too much. We did find the lyrics (Kelly Clarkson's "walk away") and navigation is good.

Sing365 - Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues" took 5 clicks and for our trouble we got 2 count 'em, 2 popup windows. It's not as bad as it sounds as long as you don't easily get confused by your task bar being filled up with extra windows. A for looks and ease of use. For Johnny we clicked on "J" then on the numbers at the bottom of the screen till we found him.

LyricSpy - A crisp interface, easy to use navigation and no annoying adverts or popups! How do they do it folks? Seriously, this site rocks. Looked for a Evanescence tune (call me when your sober), 3 clicks of the old mouse and done. The Cure is listed as well as Shania Twain, Shaquille O'Neal and Shawn Colvin (under "other author's"). This site is well done.

Entamira is a collective web page in that it encompasses all and nothing. Here you will find what you were looking for and maybe something else. It is that which can not be defined. It is "Entamira".
